Dear All,
The Centre for Mathematics and its Applications (CMAP), School of Science (SSC), is delighted to share the highlights of the guest lecture held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 am in Room 2S-44.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Waheed Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, GC University, Lahore, on the engaging and thought-provoking topic:
“Ethics in the Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases.”
Dr. Waheed Ahmad discussed the critical intersection of mathematics, public health, and ethics, emphasizing how mathematical models play a pivotal role in predicting disease spread, guiding health policies, and shaping societal responses. He highlighted the ethical responsibilities of researchers and policymakers in ensuring accuracy, transparency, and fairness when applying these models to real-world challenges.
The session attracted a diverse audience of faculty members, researchers, and students, who actively participated in the interactive Q&A segment. The thought-provoking discussion not only enhanced awareness of ethical considerations in mathematical modeling but also inspired participants to explore responsible and impactful applications of mathematics in addressing global health issues.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Waheed Ahmad for his valuable insights and to all participants for making this lecture a successful and enriching experience.
