Friday, March 14, 2025

The Centre for Mathematics and its Applications (CMAP), School of Science SSC, UMT, is pleased to invite you to a Round Table Talk in celebration of Pi Day / International Day of Mathematics.

Pi Day, also known as the International Day of Mathematics (IDM), is celebrated annually on March 14 (3/14), honors the mathematical constant π (pi), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The value of π ≈ 3.14 is an irrational and transcendental number, making it a fascinating subject in mathematics and beyond. The day was officially proclaimed by UNESCO in 2019 to recognize the crucial role of mathematics in shaping the world.

Key Objectives of the Round Table Talk:

A round table discussion on this topic will be focused on the current challenges in mathematics education and explore innovative solutions for improving learning of real-world problems and edge cutting research.

This engaging discussion will bring together experts and researchers to explore the evolving landscape of mathematics education, addressing emerging challenges and innovative strategies for its advancement globally.
